Why Wingfoil in Essaouira?
Shallow sandy lagoon near Diabat, side-shore wind 15–28 knots April–October, warm water and less crowded than European lakes. Combine with morning surf or kitesurf on the same trip. Schools offer full foil gear and radio coaching.
Best Season for Wingfoil
Peak: May–September (afternoon wind daily). Shoulder: March–April and October (lighter crowds). Winter: occasional windy days, larger wings 5–6 m. Best wind window 2–7pm; lessons often 11am–1pm or after 3pm depending on forecast.
Best Wing Spots
Diabat lagoon and Essaouira bay north section — flat water for learning. Advanced riders use open bay for swell and downwind runs toward Sidi Kaouki. Avoid swimmer zones and kitesurf launch corridors.
