Planning a Family Surf Holiday in Essaouira

Essaouira is one of Morocco's most family-friendly surf destinations. The protected bay, sandy bottom, calm medina atmosphere, and range of non-surf activities (camel rides, sandboarding, medina tours) make it ideal for parents and children travelling together.

Our family surf programs have taught children from age 6 and adults of all levels — often in the same session with adapted coaching for each family member.

Age Requirements & Kids Programs

Surf Kids group lessons accept children from age 8 with swimming ability. Private family lessons welcome children from age 6 with one-on-one instructor attention. Teenagers progress quickly and often join adult group sessions by day two.

• Ages 6–7: private family lessons only
• Ages 8–12: Surf Kids groups (max 4 per instructor)
• Ages 13+: adult group or private lessons
• Parents: learn alongside kids in family private format

Safety Measures for Families

Every family session follows ISA safety protocols: soft-top boards for children, shallow water teaching zones, constant instructor supervision, and life vest available on request. We never take families to Sidi Kaouki on days with challenging conditions — Essaouira Bay is our default for beginners.

Kid-Friendly Beaches & Activities

Beyond surf: Essaouira beach is wide and safe for sand play. The medina offers car-free wandering, fresh juice stalls, and seafood restaurants. Our partners offer camel rides at sunset, sandboarding on Atlantic dunes (from €20), and quad biking for teens.

Family Package Pricing

Family surf holidays from €290/person (Surf Starter, 3 nights) include accommodation, 6h of lessons, breakfast, and airport transfer. Private family lessons: €50/2h for up to 2 people, €70/2h for 3–4 people.

Custom family packages with riad accommodation, mixed surf/kite lessons, and Sidi Kaouki day trip available on request.
